Sandy Sykes M.A. was born in Yorkshire and is a painter, printmaker and maker of artist’s books. Since 1970 Sykes has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally in solo and group shows, some of which have toured in Britain, Europe, USA and Russia. Her work is held in numerous Private and Public Collections including Tate Britain, Victoria and Albert Museum, The Museum of Modern Art and Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

2005 Winner of “The Bank of Canada Award” for “La Bienniale International D”estampe Contemporaine de Trois Riviers, Quebec Canada, she was also Prizewinner in “Bird 2005 International Art Award” Beijing China, a Medal winner in the “2nd Seoul International Bookarts Fair “05” Seoul Korea and a shortlisted prizewinner for “SKETCH 2005”.
2003/4 Sykes won the Annual Lorne Award Scholarship. She also received a Major Artists Award fromArts Council England East, which allowed her to visit Egypt, New York, Florence and Sienna.
2002 Awarded Funding from Commissions East. Solo exhibition “Hopping the Pond: The Hedgehog Series” held at Manhattan Graphic Center New York 2002.
2001 Awarded a six week Scholarship and Residency to work on the Nagasawa Art Project in Japan.
